MY WORLD MANDARIN NATURE SCHOOL 小世界中文户外学校

We Do Not Teach Chinese. We Develop Children.

Raising Capable, Confident, Independent Human Beings Through One of the Most Intensive Mandarin Immersion Environments Anywhere

Seattle & Eastside | Ages 1–13

At My World, children do not simply learn Mandarin.

They develop confidence, independence, emotional resilience, curiosity, self-discipline, and a deep sense of capability — while becoming truly fluent in Chinese through complete immersion.

For nearly a decade, our students from non-Chinese-speaking families have consistently achieved what few believe possible: near-native Mandarin fluency through a carefully refined educational model unlike any other.

But language is only part of the story.

Our true work is helping children become exceptionally capable human beings.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Parents Hire Us.

We Work For Children.

100% Mandarin

100% Nature

100% Child Development

We deeply value our families and the trust they place in us.

Parents naturally hold the purchasing power, and we respect that deeply.

But once a child enters our program, our professional responsibility is not simply to satisfy adult preferences.

Our responsibility is to make decisions based on what truly serves the child’s long-term development.

This means we sometimes say no.

We do not enroll children simply because parents wish to enroll them. We accept children only when we believe our program is truly in their best interest.

We may decline enrollment when we know a child’s age, schedule, or level of commitment will not allow them to thrive.

Because real care sometimes means protecting children from environments that are not structurally designed for success.

We do not compromise developmental truth for convenience.

Because children deserve adults willing to put their needs first.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

Mandarin Is Not Our Goal.

It Is One Of The Outcomes.

Many schools teach Mandarin.

Many schools offer outdoor education.

Very few understand what actually allows children to develop deeply — intellectually, emotionally, socially, and linguistically.

At My World, language acquisition is the natural result of something much deeper.

Children thrive when they are given freedom to explore, real responsibility, meaningful challenges, emotional guidance, and daily opportunities to solve problems independently — all while immersed in nature and surrounded by adults who deeply understand child development.

Chinese fluency is not our end goal.

It is simply one of the many remarkable outcomes that emerge when children grow in the right environment.

EXTRAORDINARY RESULTS REQUIRE EXTRAORDINARY IMMERSION

No English

No Translation

No Shortcuts

All of our programs operate entirely in Mandarin.

Children do not learn Chinese because we teach vocabulary lists or translate concepts for them.

They learn because they live inside the language.

Over time, children from non-Chinese-speaking families routinely progress from zero Mandarin exposure to near-native speaking and reading ability.

Many of our long-term students achieve levels of Mandarin comparable to — and often exceeding — native-speaking peers.

This is possible because language acquisition is not simply about exposure.

It is about intensity, consistency, and time.

WHAT IS POSSIBLE?

From Zero Chinese To National Media

When Davis first joined My World in 2020, he spoke almost no Mandarin.

Year after year, through intensive summer immersion and continued participation in our school-year programs, his Mandarin steadily grew from complete beginner to near-native fluency.

Recently, Davis was selected to appear in a Chinese New Year production by People’s Daily, one of the world’s most widely read Chinese media organizations.

His family is now confidently relocating to China knowing their children can live, learn, and thrive fully in a Chinese-speaking environment.

His mother recently shared with us:

“We owe the kids’ fluency to your summer camp.”

But Davis’ story is not unusual at My World.

Many of our long-term students from non-Chinese-speaking families achieve similar — and often even stronger — levels of Mandarin fluency.

This is what long-term, high-quality immersion can do.

WHAT PARENTS SAY

“While the Mandarin program is exceptional, your care and support of children’s personal growth is one of the standout markers of your program.”

“There is no other program like yours anywhere.”

“We owe the kids’ fluency to your summer camp.”

Some families fly in from other parts of the country and rent temporary housing for one to two months each summer so their children can attend our program — often returning year after year.

We believe that tells the story better than we ever could.

OUR STORY

Built By A Parent Who Could Not Find The School She Wanted For Her Own Children

Before founding My World, Orien Kuang worked as a bilingual science editor at AAAS (American Association for the Advancement of Science), publisher of the world-renowned journal Science.

As a parent raising bilingual children, she became deeply interested in child development, language acquisition, and the profound impact of nature on children’s growth.

She searched extensively for a school that combined deep Mandarin immersion, meaningful time in nature, and a philosophy centered on healthy human development.

She found none.

Unable to find a school she truly believed in for her own children, she decided to build the school she wished existed.

What began as a deeply personal mission has since grown into one of the most intensive and effective Mandarin immersion programs of its kind.

But the mission has never been simply teaching Chinese.

The real work has always been helping children become exceptionally capable human beings.
